I am a visual artist currently living in Dufferin County, Ontario. I was born in the UK but grew up in Toronto. As a teenager I began training as a graphic designer in the print industry. I have created backdrops for local theatre productions. It wasn't until my first child was born 25 years ago that I began taking painting courses at the AGO, and
discovered my true passion in painting in oil, acrylic, egg tempera & mixed media on canvas, wood panel, furniture, or paper. More recently my art is appearing on clothing and home accessories online with Le Galeriste and Red Bubble. I also have a collection at Rare Threads Boutique in Alton, ON. I am a member of the Optimist Club where I am the Communications Coordinator, Graphic Designer and one of the artistic contributors.
I enjoy painting the human figure and the emotion in a face. I am intrigued by figurative and facial expression, influenced by many contemporary, renaissance, and impressionist artists. I have studied at the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO), Toronto School of Art, ArteMbassy Toronto, and Avenue Road ArtSchool, and Maggiolly Art Studio.
I have a small studio in an old Victorian house on Zina St. My walls currently display work focusing on the “face” in a series of Icons from Silent Film, Hollywood and Rock Stars, past and present. I have completed quite a number of commission works: Edith Piaf, Einstein, David Bowie, Freddie Mercury, Amy Winehouse, Janis Joplin, Stevie Nicks, Keith Richards and many others including local people and pets.
In Feb/March 2019 I created a series of paintings of British pop stars for a solo show at the TheatreOrangeville during their "Across the Pond" musical production (50 years of British Invasion in Music). I am back again for the “Rock n’ Roll is Here to Stay” Leisa Way production with a solo show including many new paintings of female singers.
I am available for commission requests. For more information please free to contact me at the above.Check out my two online shops for wearable art fashion and home décor!
